How Much Does Invisa-RED Laser Treatment Cost? (And Is It Worth It?)

"How much does it cost?" is usually the second question people ask about Invisa-RED, right after "does it work?" If you typed "invisa red cost" into a search bar, you probably found plenty of laser marketing and not many straight answers. It is a fair question, and you deserve a straight answer.
Here it is: at Body Trim, Invisa-RED pricing is quoted at your free consultation. We do not publish a single price, because the total depends on what you are treating and how the treatment fits into the rest of your plan. A number on a website would either be too low to be honest or too high to be useful.
What we can do is explain exactly what goes into the quote, what to ask any clinic before you pay, how payment works, and whether Invisa-RED is worth it for what you want.
What the Invisa-RED laser is, and what you are paying for
Invisa-RED is a non-invasive laser body contouring treatment. Invisa-RED technology uses low level laser light at two laser wavelengths, 680nm red and 980nm near-infrared, delivered through paddles positioned close to the skin. That red and infrared laser energy is meant to stimulate fat cells in the layer of fat just under the skin (subcutaneous adipose tissue) to release some of their stored fat. There are no needles, no surgery, and no downtime. Each session lasts about 20 minutes at our Flint clinic.
The device we use, the invisa-RED™ ELITE, is FDA-cleared (not FDA-approved) through the 510(k) pathway, clearance number K192275, dated August 19, 2020. It is cleared as a non-invasive aesthetic treatment for the temporary reduction of the circumference of the waist, hips, and thighs.
That last part matters when you think about cost. You are paying for measurable, temporary inch loss in those areas. You are not paying for weight loss, and you should be wary of any clinic that sells it that way.
You will also see Invisa-RED marketed with a long list of extra benefits: that it can burn fat, tighten skin, deliver cellulite reduction, fade stretch marks, build collagen and elastin, boost blood flow and ATP, speed up your metabolism, or flush fat out through the lymphatic system. Some of those claims come with the words "clinically proven" attached. None of them are part of the FDA clearance, and none of them are what we quote you for.
What drives the Invisa-RED cost
Several things shape the quote you will receive. None of them are hidden, and you can ask about each one.
Number of treatment areas
Treating your waist alone is a different plan than treating your waist, hips, and thighs. More areas usually means more treatment time across the series, and that is reflected in the quote.
Number of sessions in your series
Invisa-RED is done as a series of sessions rather than a single visit. The number of sessions is decided at your consultation, based on your goals and the areas involved. We do not quote a standard session count in advance, because it would not reflect your situation.
Whether you pair it with the weight loss program
Some patients come in for Invisa-RED on its own. Others pair it with our physician-supervised medical weight loss program, where the eating plan and provider support work on the habits that help results hold. Your quote reflects what you choose.
Styku 3D body scanning
We recommend measuring your results with a Styku 3D body scan at the start and again after the series. The scan takes about 35 seconds and records circumferences at the waist, hips, thighs, and bust, plus a body-fat estimate and a 3D model you can compare over time. The Styku scan is priced separately, and we quote it before you decide.
Is the Invisa-RED laser the same as red light therapy?
Not exactly, and the difference matters for cost. "Red light therapy" is a broad label that covers everything from home panels to spa sessions, with very different purposes and prices. Comparing the cost of red light therapy for weight loss with the cost of Invisa-RED is not a fair comparison.
Invisa-RED is a specific FDA-cleared low level laser with a specific cleared use. Does it reduce belly fat? The clearance covers temporary reduction of waist circumference, which is where belly fat shows up on a tape measure. It does not cover weight loss or lasting fat reduction. Our page on non-surgical body contouring in Flint goes into more detail on what laser therapy can and cannot do for your midsection.
Inch loss, not weight reduction or fat loss: how to judge the cost
A lot of pages sell this as "Invisa-RED weight loss," or promise weight reduction and fat loss. If you judge the price against that promise, you will be disappointed, because that is not what the device is cleared to do.
Judge it instead against inch loss: a measurable, temporary change in the circumference of your waist, hips, and thighs. That is the result the clearance study measured, and it is the result your quote should be built around. To get the best results out of what you spend, measure carefully before and after, and support the treatment with diet and exercise habits that help the change hold.
Why we don't publish a price
Prices that appear online for body contouring are often a per-session figure, a promotional first visit, or a number that leaves out the series you actually need. That makes cost comparisons misleading, even when nobody intends it.
A quote built at your consultation includes your actual areas, your actual session count, and any scanning or program you choose. That is the number you can plan around, and you leave the consultation knowing the total before you commit to anything.
What to ask any clinic before you pay
Whether you come to us or go somewhere else, these questions will tell you a lot about the treatment and the clinic offering it.
What is the exact device name and its 510(k) number? A legitimate FDA-cleared device has a clearance number you can look up in the FDA's public database. Ours is the invisa-RED ELITE, K192275. If a clinic cannot tell you, that is worth noticing.
Is it FDA-cleared or FDA-approved, and for what? Many aesthetic laser devices are cleared rather than approved. The wording of the cleared indication tells you what the device was actually tested for. For Invisa-RED, that is temporary reduction of waist, hip, and thigh circumference.
What is measured before and after? Ask how results are documented. Tape measurements at fixed landmarks, ideally with a 3D scan, are far more reliable than photos. If nothing is measured, there is no way to know whether the treatment did anything for you.
What happens if I don't see a change? Ask before you pay, not after. A clinic should be able to explain how they review progress during a series and what the options are if your measurements are not moving.
What is the total package cost, not just the per-session price? A low per-session price can turn into a large total. Ask for the complete cost of the series, including any scans or add-ons.
What does the treatment not do? A trustworthy answer will mention that results are temporary and that it is not a weight loss treatment.
Payment options at Body Trim
Self-pay. Body Trim is a self-pay clinic, and we do not bill insurance. Invisa-RED is an aesthetic treatment, so it is not something insurance typically covers.
Financing. We offer financing through CareCredit and Advance Care, including a 1-year same-as-cash financing program. Approval and terms are set by the financing company. You can read more on our financing page.
HSA and FSA. Aesthetic treatments usually are not eligible for HSA or FSA funds. If you hope to use one, ask your plan administrator before you assume it applies.
Is Invisa-RED worth it for inch loss?
This is the honest version.
It may be worth it if:
- You want measurable inch loss in your waist, hips, or thighs.
- You are already at or near your goal weight, or already working on your weight loss goals, and have stubborn fat that seems resistant to diet and exercise.
- You understand the results are temporary and are willing to support them with how you eat.
- You want a non-invasive option with no needles and no downtime.
It is probably not worth it if:
- Your main goal is losing weight. Invisa-RED is not a weight loss treatment and not a substitute for one. A supervised program is the better use of your money.
- You expect a dramatic change from a session or two.
- You want a result that holds without any change in eating habits.
What does the evidence say? The clinical study behind the FDA clearance was randomized, double-blind, and sham-controlled, with 40 adults. The treated group lost an estimated 6.88 inches more in combined waist, hip, and thigh circumference than the sham group. That is a total across several measurement points, and an average, so individual results vary. It is real evidence for a modest, temporary, measurable change. We go into the study in more detail on our Invisa-RED page.
Whether that change is worth the cost depends on how much those inches matter to you, and whether you will pair the treatment with the habits that help them last. Those are good questions to talk through at a consultation before you spend anything.
What happens at the consultation
The consultation is free. We will talk about your goals, which areas you are thinking about, and your health history. If Invisa-RED is a reasonable fit, we will explain how many sessions we would recommend for you and give you the total cost of the series, including a Styku scan if you want one.
If Invisa-RED is not the right fit, we will tell you that too. For many people, the eating plan and support in our medical weight loss program will do more for their goals than any device.
